What a pathetic waste of police time

Nick Griffin responds to letter sent by Northern Ireland police Serious Crimes unit after ‘prosecute him’ demands by Sinn Fein bomber “To see the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI, formerly the Royal Ulster Constabulary) rushing to obey the orders of a convicted IRA bomber is sad and sick.

It’s also a pathetic waste of police time, so I have nothing to say, under any circumstances, to the police in response to their attempt to prosecute me at the request of Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson.”

That’s Nick Griffin’s defiant response to the letter from the PSNI reproduced here.

Mr. Griffin has now issued the following statement for the Northern Ireland press, who are following developments closely:
My supposedly controversial tweet was clearly directed at a group of individuals who had sent a series of crude, abusive and anti-British comments to my twitter feed, and who I in turn referred to as ‘Fenian bastards’ after one of them insulted my wife.

For it to become the subject of a police investigation is absurd.

This piece of petty political persecution is a farcical example of a far more serious problem in Northern Ireland: The one way street nature of inquiries, investigations into unsolved killings, apologies, Parades Commission decisions and media coverage of continuing sectarian tensions.

The tragedies of the loyalist community during the Troubles are denied a fraction of the attention and money devoted to those of the other side of the divide.

At the same time, the continuation of the Republicans' long war by means of piecemeal cultural genocide and ethnic cleansing is ignored.

As usual, the PSNI is bending over backwards to appease the Republican grievance machine. The absurd nature of the complaint against me is highlighted by the fact that the IRA bomber turned Sinn Fein 'politician' who ordered the PSNI investigation represents an organisation which is happy to make money by selling 'Unrepentant Fenian Bastard' coffee mugs.

Which rather undermines their crocodile tears claim to find the term ‘offensive’
I have no objection to Sinn Fein selling mugs; in fact I think it is preferable as a way of raising funds to robbing banks.

But I do object to taxpayers' money being wasted on an attempt at blatantly selective prosecution.

As usual the BBC and other media outlets feign the same selective outrage as led to the grotesque contrast between the hysterical coverage of a loyalist drummer beating his drum too enthusiastically outside a Catholic church in north Belfast’s Donegall Street, and their refusal to report – let alone criticize - condemn incidents such as blatant intimidation by Republican bands outside the Protestant church in Dungiven.

To the IRA/DUP government, the Sinn Fein/BBC broadcasting media and the PSNI/PIRA security services, the Protestants are the new Catholics.

It was wrong and dangerous when it was the other way round in the 1960s, and it is just as wrong and dangerous now. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

I will certainly not be wasting any of my or police time by responding to this or the other requests for an interview from the PSNI. They have better things to do, and so do I.
In the highly unlikely event of my being prosecuted and found guilty, I will under no circumstances pay any fine.

I would gladly go to prison if that is the price that has to be paid to highlight the bias and injustice that is turning the loyalist community into oppressed, second class citizens.

It is a wicked and foolish policy of systematic discrimination that is sowing the dragons' teeth of future conflict.
