The European Union has bizarrely demanded the right to determine laws in Russia, lead British National Party European Parliament researcher Andrew Moffat has said.
Speaking during the latest British National Party TV interview recorded at the European Parliament, Mr Moffat referred to an EU motion concerning the criminal prosecution of some Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia.
“It refers specifically to a Russian law which it said deals with incitement to hatred or enmity and the denigration of human dignity,” Mr Moffat said.
“This is a case of the kettle calling the pot black, as the EU is awash with this sort of thing.
“They are trying to foist on the Russian people a panoply of politically correct laws. The Russian people are going to tell them to get lost,” Mr Moffat continued.
“What right does the EU have to tell a sovereign country of considerable size and power how it should run its own laws? It is bizarre. Who do these people think they are?”
Fellow panellist Nick Griffin MEP added that this sort of behaviour was typical for the EU.
“Every little think which happens somewhere in the world is debated here,” Mr Griffin said.
The end result was that time was wasted discussing things which have nothing to do with Europe when there were serious issues which could occupy the parliament’s time, the British National Party leader added.
“There is also a move to constantly talk down to Russia, to regard them with suspicion and as a problem,” Mr Griffin continued.
“It is wrong and very dangerous to treat a serious world power as a two-bit banana republic,” he said.
The programme, which can be viewed below, also contains an interesting discussion about prisoners’ voters and MEPs written declarations.
