The Ealing and Hillingdon British National Party group was out in Ruislip last Saturday, continuing the long-term campaign for the Greater London Assembly elections in 2012, reports West London organiser David Furness.
Hundreds of leaflets were handed out to the public and all Voice of Freedom newspapers were snapped up.
“We had a very warm reception from the public except for some lefties who called the police,” said Mr Furness.
"The police came and told me that what we were doing was illegal. I firmly but politely told the officers that we were acting within the law. We are a political party, and we have a right to distribute political material.
“After some discussion, the officers agreed and left us to carry on engaging with the public."
