Successful Halal Protest in Sunderland

By Chris Thornton-Following our highly successful Halal protest against offending Subways in the North East, Martin Vaughan and myself organised a flash leafleting demonstration outside the Subway in Pallion, Sunderland, where we had a huge demonstration last month.

We did not advertise it as we did the last time, so my apologies to all those North East members that would have liked to come along, but we decided to keep this one small with only seven members, just to keep the pressure on the shop and show them we are still going to target them until they stop selling barbarically slaughtered meat, however, we will be having another huge one shortly.

What was very pleasing was the fact we are slowly but surely getting the message across to people.

When we first started out on this campaign, 99.9% of people did not have a clue what halal was.

Whilst leafleting outside the shop yesterday and explaining to people what Subway are selling to them, many people told me they had heard of halal and now knew from our last huge demo that Subway only supplied halal and had since boycotted the shop.

In an interview with Tyne and Wear Sky News on our last demo, I told them that we had people from the farming community who adhered to strict legislation and RSPCA inspection whilst rearing their livestock, but they are sickened by the RSPCA for refusing to continue to care for their livestock once they have been to auction by standing back and allowing their animals to go through unnecessary pain and suffering in this barbaric Islamic slaughter known as Halal.

One would believe that would be a great story for any reporter, however, that part of the interview was cut (No surprises there then).
We will not get any support from the media because they are afraid of upsetting Muslims, but the British National Party are not, so the only way is our way, with lots of activity.

Thank you to all of those who helped, and to Karl Brookes, the son of Lady Dorothy Brookes, the North Tyneside organiser, for taking the photographs.
