By Cllr Clive Jefferson:On St George’s Day, members of Nick Griffin’s staff held a day of action in Carlisle,Cumbria’s only city.
The St George’s flags were flying not only from our cars but also from many of the houses in the city.
Carlisle is a Border city, any further North and you are in Scotland, so the English flag is much loved and although there is great links and friendly relations with our Scottish brethren over the border, a healthy rivalry is very much alive in the borders.
After our St George Day information stall, the team went into Currock Ward where we are contesting the local elections on Thursday 3rd May, and leafleted 1,500 houses with Mr Griffin’s well received St George’s Day leaflet combined with the British National Party’s leaflet “I love GB”.
Support is strong in Currock ward and we will poll well on 3rd May.
