The Salford Advertiser, owned by the Manchester Evening News once again fails to play a part in democracy in the city despite being well rewarded by the Labour controlled council.

A Freedom of Information request submitted by the Salford branch of the British National Party has found that over the duration of the past two years the council have paid the Manchester Evening News, which includes the Salford Advertiser, a total of £153,111.52.

It’s said the majority of payments were for the following, resale of newspapers in the Citywide Shop based at the Civic Centre Campus, Adverts for Salford initiated schemes, such as Face your Demons and the Fostering scheme.

This week’s Salford Advertiser sees that when not being paid by the council they do not seem to really want to give them the time of day, or any sort of platform to advertise a current by-election in the area.

Salford Council has just been compared with communist country North Korea by the electoral reform society due to the fact the council have just failed the basic test in democracy and allowed Labour to turn the city in to a one party state.

Getting the news wrong the Advertiser managed to add an additional candidate in to the mix of the report claiming there were 10 candidates rather than 9.

One candidate independent, Michael Felse ex English Democrats Mayoral Candidate in 2012, pulled out well over two weeks ago, and everybody was informed.

It’s not an easy mistake, it just shows how little interest the paper has with free advertising in regards to elections, looking even further at the page, you will notice every single advertisement is larger than the whole report.

Last week Salford Council broke the peoples representation act by barring the British National Party from holding a public meeting in conjunction with the election, our press statement was sent well before the press and the pro Labour advertiser failed to mention it.

Salford British National Party press statement said “The British National Party, were due to hold a public meeting, in line with the peoples representation act at the civic centre, Thursday 30th May 2013.

The Salford Suite was booked weeks in advance, Members of the Labour Party have pressured the mayor to cancel the meeting in an attack on democracy.

Salford Council have just been compared to the communist country’s North Korea, China and Cuba, by the Electoral Reform Society (ERS) who said Salford Council had failed the ‘basic test of democracy.’

Martin Vickers who is paid a 6 figure sum of public money and reports directly to the Labour mayor informed us three hours before the meeting that it was cancelled and the room was ‘unavailable’ for use.

This is a clear image Salford Labour wants to portray, with total disrespect for the voters of Weaste and Seedley, another clear message that democracy is dead in Salford.

Any further questions can be asked by emailing Salford@bnp.org.uk or ring 07909674006”
On the Thursday 20th June 2013, Weaste and Seedley go to the ballet box, so you can well expect a low turnout as usual, because no one has an interest in politics, even the local rag displays that.

Thinking of voting in Salford, next Thursday in Salford, then contact Salford British National Party on 07909674006 and we can let you know where your local polling station is
“Get rid of Labour before they get rid of us!” Say the Salford branch.
