On Tues 20th November a North East Regional meeting was called in South Shields to raise funds to help Peter Foreman the British National Party candidate fight for the parliamentary seat of Middlesbrough.
The meeting was chaired by South Tyneside organiser Chris Thornton. Others speaking where North Tyneside Organiser Lady Dorothy Brookes who gave an informative speech on the barbaric ritual slaughter of Halal and the success we have had in the NE with various demonstrations.
Martin Vaughan also spoke on local issues and activities for the coming month including leafleting target wards and of cause our famous NE Christmas party on the 8th December.
Peter Foreman told the members it was an honour and privilege to be presenting the party and took questions from the members and gave a speech on the local policies he would like to address if he was successfully elected. The meeting was a success and raised enough funds to support this election.
The following day Peter Foreman and Chris Thornton went to the Cleveland Shopping Centre in Middlesbrough as one of our members had spotted a very small hidden away article in a local rag advertising that there would be a televised questions and answers forum for the public to ask questions to the parliamentary candidates.
It’s obvious that going to all the expense of setting this up in the shopping centre that all the candidates would have been invited personally.
However, surprise surprise! Peter Foreman from the British National Party did not get an invite. UKIP did, even though we took 700 more votes than them at the last election.
When we arrived all be it slightly late there was not enough seats for five candidates and we were quickly directed to a nearby radio interviewer for a one minute interview.
The forum consisted of four chairs with four candidates from various parties and an interviewer and a member of the public who asked the panel various questions.
After each question the cameras stopped and a new member of the public was then put in place to ask their question. At this interval the question was asked could Peter join the forum but unsurprisingly he was refused.
This is British democracy at its best, afraid to let a candidate speak to the wider public on issues without wrapping it in PC propaganda.
On Monday the 26th November Peter was again refused entry into a hustings meeting in Middlesbrough, this was organised by Friends of the Earth, God knows why.
This morning Peter was interviewed on BBC Tees Mike Parr show here
