Egypt's ultra-conservative Salafist Al-Nur Party has announced it will back the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Mursi in a presidential election runoff against ex-premier Ahmed Shafiq.
Why should this bother anyone in the UK and who are the Salafi?
Salafism is the fastest growing Islamic movement in the world.
A Salafi is a Muslim who emphasises the Salaf (the ancestors), the earliest Muslims, as model examples of Islamic practice.
Meet one of the foremost of those Salafi Muslims OMAR BAKRI MUHAMMAD.
Remember Him? With his good buddy Abu Hamza (the Hook)?
Yes he was the man that praised the 9/11 attackers as "magnificent" and changed his leanings towards the theology and philosophy of Al Qaeda
In the UK he worked for ten years helping to build up Hizb ut-Tahrir.
After the September 11 2001 attacks, Bakri then stated that he had become a Salafi Muslim.
On September 13, 2001 Bakri told the Daily Mail, "When I first heard about [the September 11, 2001 attacks], there was some initial delight about such an attack. I received a phone call and said, 'Oh, wow, the United States has come under attack.' It was exciting."
According to The Times newspaper Bakri was left alone by British law prior to July 2005 because he insisted that his followers obey a "covenant of security" which, while encouraging terror abroad, forbade them from carrying out attacks in Britain.
The authorities including MI5 and MI6, incredulously, were lulled into a false sense of security," because the covenant was non-existent.
The July London bombings proved that.
Egyptian scholar Tawfik Hamid says that Salafist Muslim fundamentalists believe that Saudi influence is sanctioned by God.
Thus this extreme brand of Sunni Islam that spread from the Saudi Arabia to the rest of the Islamic world is regarded not merely as one interpretation of the religion but the only genuine interpretation.
The expansion of violent and regressive ideas, he continues, began to take global roots in the late 1970s, and is precisely due to the growing financial clout of Saudi Arabia.
In his words, this Arabian sponsored version of Islam is “puritanical, extreme and does, yes, mean that women can be beaten, apostates killed and Jews called pigs and monkeys.”
So these are practicing Salafi Muslims. Should you fear them?

Bakri now lives and operates out of Lebanon.
Here are some of his and therefore Salafi students.
• Mohammed Naeem Noor Khan "a computer expert now in a Pakistani prison"
• Zeeshan Siddiqui, from Hounslow, west London
• Bilal Mohammed from Birmingham
• and Asif Hanif.
The Muslim Brotherhood, also Salafi Muslims, are growing monumentally in power and position in the World (it has even spread to China).
We face a threat far worse than anything we have yet seen or yet experienced.
BEWARE OF THE SALAFI MUSLIM!
