A campaign on the social network site, Facebook, is urging the general public to join a peaceful protest on Tuesday 24th July, 2012, commencing at 11 a.m. at every war memorial against the coalition government’s decision to reduce the British Army by 20,000 soldiers and do away with historic regiments such as the Green Howards.

This protest is being endorsed by the British Veterans Group (BVG), which sees the coalition’s decision to sack our soldiers and regiments as nothing more than treacherous.

BVG Veterans Officer, Pete Molloy said “I hope as many people can participate in this protest to show the government that they don’t agree with its decision to abuse out troops.

The same happened to my former regiment, The King’s Regiment, back in 2006 under the Labour government.”
