The British Veterans’ Group (BVG)* have now finalised its plans for the protest outside the Tory Party conference in Birmingham on Sunday, 7th October, 2012 with the day starting off at 11 a.m. with a wreath laying ceremony conducted by the Rev. Robert West at the Birmingham Hall of Memory.
Details of the Hall of Memory can be found herehttp://www.hallofmemory.co.uk/
Whilst at the Hall of Memory the Last Post will be played followed by a minutes silence in memory of all the British Servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts past and present.
From the Hall of Memory it will be a short walk to the ICC where the Tory Party will be holding its conference and the protest against the loss of British blood in foreign wars.
The event is open to all veterans and non veterans who oppose how our armed forces are being used and abused by the coalition government.
The BVG requests all veterans to wear regimental headdress, blazer, tie and medals if possible and everyone to bring with them appropriate flags such as British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Union flag and placards etc.
BVG Veterans Officer, Pete Molloy said, “Those lads and girls that are still serving are not allowed to protest about how they are being used and abused in the name of global capitalism, so it is down to us veterans and our supporters to do it for them.”
If you would like further details on joining the BVG, please email veterans@bnp.org.uk
