Week two of the British National Party's popular “Bring Our Boys Home” campaign saw County Durham BNP hold another successful town centre stall, this time in Bishop Auckland, reports local activist Stephen Palmer.
Despite the cold and blustery conditions, around a hundred people stopped to sign the party's petition to withdraw British troops immediately from the illegal war in Afghanistan, and many more took leaflets and voiced their support.
A large number of signatories said they were relatives of servicemen who have been involved in the Afghanistan war, and several of them echoed BNP policy, saying, "We should never have gone there in the first place."
Many locals stopped to chat with our activists before signing, while others came over and put their names down straight after seeing the campaign's eye-catching banner.
Thank you to the people of Bishop Auckland who signed our petition and to our team of activists: Mark Walker, Debbie Slater, Kirsty Morton and Wendy Paley.
Details of the rest of our campaign in County Durham will be announced on our blog; please get in touch if you'd like to help.
