This morning, at 9 a.m., the Leadership Election Returning Officer, Geof Dickens, issued a warning to all 24-month+ members in relation to the existence of an illegal and unauthorised mailing that this morning has landed on the doormat of some of our members and supporters.
This booklet contains appalling untruths and liable accusations. This booklet is against the agreed election rules and is totally unauthorised and immoral.
Geof Dickens said that at present he does not know where this booklet has come from, but that he suspects that there is third-party interference. He has said that this has clearly been done to cause maximum disruption and division in the Party.
The Returning Officer has had so many complaints regarding this booklet that at times his phone line may become un-contactable. In view of this, members who have received this booklet are advised to make an official written complaint about it to the Returning Officer to PO Box 213, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 7AL, or please call Central Party on 0844 809 4581.
As soon as the Returning Officer has finished his investigations, he will be releasing a further statement.
It is vital that any member who has received this booklet, or indeed any other unauthorised communication about the current leadership election, send the envelope that it came in, and the full contents, to Central Party, at PO Box 213, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 7AL in order to help the Returning Officer in his investigations. The more evidence we can gather, the better.
Members are advised to totally ignore the contents of said unauthorised booklet, and to make their decision on whom they wish to vote for based on the agreed and official election material.
Every British National Party candidate, official and member regularly comes into contact with vicious smears against our Party. This election interference is no different. Please treat it with the contempt that it deserves.
Finally, could we ask those reading this to please contact any 24-month+ members that you are aware of that may not have the internet in order to let them know the situation too. Thank you.
