We are currently seeking a Coordinator to oversee a volunteer programme, managing the administration of our groups and branches development strategy and supporting them as necessary, on a project to deliver membership growth, cohesion and increased financial capability at local and regional levels across the UK. We understand that our activists and volunteers are our key resource.

Job Description British National Party

Title: Group support/training officer

The role is full time for a fixed-term contract of one year (with a six month probationary period) with the potential to extend. Salary by negotiation.

Reports to: Staff Manager.

Based at: Home with requirement to travel frequently

Job purpose: A coordinator of our activists and volunteers responsible for liaising with all areas of the party structure, working on a year-long project to deliver membership growth and financial capability throughout all groups and branches across the UK. Responsible for implementing modern data gathering/ handling and reporting systems that will facilitate membership growth and financial security.  Developing training programmes for party volunteers and providing support at point of need to them as necessary.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

* Managing all administration and organisational arrangements involved in the volunteer programme including constructing, integrating and maintaining a database;

* Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the group support programme;

* Reporting on all aspects of delivery and outcomes to the party hierarchy;

* Liaising with external volunteer/business networks to achieve benchmarking standards for the programme;

* Researching national developments relating to volunteer political structures  and the third sector and developing the programme accordingly;

* Participating in regional events to disseminate and share good practice;

* Providing support as required in undertaking general administrative duties of the day to day business of the project including dealing with enquiries in person, in writing, telephone and face to face;

* Identifying training and development needs within the organization through role/job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with the party’s ruling body and managers, as well as consulting with outside professionals;

* Liaising and attending meetings with departments (such as Treasury and Elections) necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development;

* Liaising with the Advisory Council and all regional organisers and group and branch leaders in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to assess our position and system requirements;

* Designing and developing training and development programmes based on both the organization’s and the individual's needs;

* Considering the costs of planned programmes and keeping within budgets as assessing the return on investment of any training or development programmes in becoming increasingly developing effective induction programmers;

* Conducting appraisals;

* Devising individual learning plans;

* Producing training materials for in-house courses;

* Managing the delivery of training and development programmers and, in a more senior role, devising a training strategy for the organisation;

* Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with group and branch leaders;

* Evaluating training and development programmes;

* Amending and revising programmers as necessary, in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the political arena and Nationalist political environment;

* Developing an understanding of e-learning techniques;

* Gathering, complying and analysing all relevant data and constructing regular reports for the party management;

* Taking overall responsibility for increasing party membership, prospect follow-ups, conversation rates and financial growth throughout the group, branch and regional structures;

* Attending training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior officials. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathetic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well-presented and business-like. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel extensively within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Personal Situation: Able to work extended hours, overnight travel as and when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.

Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understand principles of marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness, including market sector targeting, product offer development, features-benefits-solutions selling, cost per response, cost per conversion, etc. Appreciate need for consistency within party's branding and marketing mix, especially PR and the Internet. Excellent oral and written communication skills to enable clear and professional interaction with a wide range of people. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish productive working relationships.

Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to intermediate level, Internet and email.

Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. Must be a very competent writer of business letters, reports, quotations and proposals.

Education: Preferably educated to Degree Level or above.

Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator.

Management Ability: Excellent relationship management skills and possession of personal qualities and vision to bridge the gap between the experience of the volunteers and those of modern professional systems.
