Two carloads full of British National Party activists from Cumbria travelled to the North East last weekend to help out with Adam Walker’s by-election campaign in Spennymoor, reports North West regional organiser Clive Jefferson.
“The North East and Cumbria have always supported each other and it is great for morale to travel and assist other groups,” Mr Jefferson told BNP News. “Also, a local team gets a big boost when activists come from afar to help out.
“We hand delivered 4200 personally addressed mail merge letters to the electors of the ward, which was an incredible day’s work,” he continued.
“Our activists knocked on each door and handed the voters a personal message from the BNP candidate. This is a very effective technique and gets first timers into knocking on doors without the pressure of having to canvass the elector.
“Once our activists realise there really is no problem with door knocking they usually quickly develop into effective canvassers,” he said.
Mr Jefferson, who is also BNP National Elections officer, praised the team effort which had made the campaign possible.
“The literature was printed in Nuneaton, put into envelopes in Cumbria over a three-day period, and then delivered by a team of activists from all over the north of England,” he said.
