The British National Party’s Adam Walker has been selected to stand for the party in a tightly-contested by-election in Spennymoor, the Bishop Auckland Constituency Group has announced.

Mr Walker, who is also party manager, was selected as candidate at a recent inner core group meeting where he was chosen out of four potential candidates.

“I am delighted to have been chosen by my peers to be our candidate in this upcoming important by-election,” Mr Walker said.

“We’ve been working very hard in Spennymoor over the recent years and have engaged in all sorts of local projects which have generated a large amount of local support,” he said, using a recently completed path reconstruction project as an example.

The by-election is in one of the party’s best wards in the area and holds great potential. The BNP’s Greater London Assembly member, Richard Barnbrook, has already been helping out in the ward as payment for Mr Walker’s help during campaigns in London.

“I would like to appeal to other activists to come and help if they can,” Mr Walker said. The by-election is due to take place on Thursday, 9th September.
