By Pat Harrington – An outbreak of violent disturbances in East Belfast in the past week caught most of the media by surprise.
A crowd of some two to three thousand people gathered at the City Hall in Belfast on Sunday afternoon to call upon the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to reconsider its decision not to allow a homecoming parade for Royal Irish Regiment soldiers recently returned from Afghanistan after a six-month tour in which three soldiers died.
