Race Equality Council Fraud? Never!
Lottery bosses have launched an investigation into an allegation that a Bury group improperly used part of a £90,000 lottery grant. The Big Lottery Fund, which hands out grants to good causes, is probing Bury Metro Racial Equality Council (REC).
It follows a written allegation from REC’s former chairman, Monaza Luqman, who recently resigned from the post. The allegation centres around a payment of £3,093 made as part of a compensation payout to ex-REC employee Carol Lyle.
However, REC treasurer Sam Cohen, who is also an Unsworth ward councillor, said the group had not paid the cash out of grant funds and was confident it would be exonerated by the end of the year.
The payout related to an incident in February 2006, four weeks after Ms Lyle, of Wythenshawe, started work at the REC. She fell down the stairs at the REC’s office at Oddfellows House, Manchester Road, Bury. She took the REC to an employment tribunal, which ruled the REC must pay £9,093 for not installing a stairlift at the office, which would have helped Ms Lyle and other visitors to the office.
It also ruled the REC and Coun Cohen must jointly pay her £4,911 because they did not follow the right procedure when she first made the complaint. The allegation that cheques had been paid out of an REC account which contained only Big Lottery Fund cash came when Ms Luqman returned to work after a week of annual leave.
The £90,000 grant has to be spent on a pre-agreed list of projects. A Big Lottery Fund spokesman said: “We are reviewing the matter and are in discussion with the grantholder. All grants awarded by the Big Lottery Fund are monitored throughout their duration to ensure that conditions of grants are met and that money is spent effectively and properly.
“If any grant recipient spends funding on something that it was not intended for, without prior agreement, we have the right to stop payment of the grant and take steps to recover any funding not used for the purpose of the grant.”
Big Lottery Fund managers have written to Coun Cohen instructing him to provide them with a list of things the cash has paid for. The money was supposed to help the REC with its main role, which is to provide legal advice to clients and to represent them against other organisations at tribunals and other race-related hearings.

I knew an Indian council worker whose job entailed allocating the council grant to a REC. She was unable to obtain a clear set of accounts from the REC as to the validity of their year’s work.
The head of the REC tried to sway her by stating something along the lines of “we are both Indian, we should be united against these people”. I assume that “these people” are either the council or the whites.
I still pass that particular REC every couple of months and it is still in business,presumably they still get their funding. Methinks that a detailed audit of any REC would highlight glaring anomalies.
Without wishing to sound harsh because any physical disability makes the struggle to compete in todays climate disadvantagious. But if Ms Lyle presumably disabled had worked there for four weeks before falling downstairs, she must have known the possible danger that faced her.
She should have either left or pushed her employees for a stairlift when starting the job, or arranged for physical help up/down the stairs which any decent person would give.
This sort of attitude that runs amongst some, and I stress some disabled people is parallel to the attitude of many and I stress many ethnics claiming racial discrimination when they come a cropper due to their own negligence and short comings.
I simply don’t get this claiming compensation nonsense for self damage not involving a third party.
I post this article not knowing the ethnicity of Ms Lyle, but if she is ‘ethnic’ then she falls into both groups above and is clearly intent on milking our system.

I’m in the job market at the moment and whenever I encounter an application form that alludes to special provisions for a prospective candidate I have to laugh.
It’s like they are encouraging an application from a certain type of disability in order to meet their quota, and it’s invariably a public funded organisation like health or education. Not a real company with realistic survival criteria to consider.
‘Yes I can do this job for 1/2hr a day, three days a month but you will have to rebuild the entire site to accomodate my team of ‘guide huskies’ and invent electro-magnetic hover-chairs to give me mobility’.

Race Equality Councils are at the cutting edge of plaguey politically correct Human Rights absurdities and we all know that race equality only applies to non-white races, apart from the fact that many of the PC brigade don’t actually admit to the existence of distinct races with disparate characteristics.

For example, the REC, a few doors from the Plymouth pub near the site of Sir John Hawkins’ birthplace and renamed Hawkins Meeting House in his honour, has launched a racism attack against the landlords because Sir John was also a slave-trader, as well as having saved England from the Spanish Armada, introducing us to potatoes and setting up a charity for sick and elderly sailors. If we’re going to ban everybody’s name who was involved in the global slave trade, there are not going to be many famous ones left, starting with Queen Elizabeth I, who was not averse to profiting from Sir John’s trips.

I rather agree with your criticism that some ‘disabled’ people con the system. I am permitted to criticise, because they classify me as ‘disabled’ since I lost a leg some years ago, although I do not regard myself as disabled.
If I can no longer do something because I have only one leg, such as gain access to an old listed building, I do not expect it to be modified with a ramp or a lift; if I cannot make it to the top of the church tower, then I accept it in good grace. It is not society’s fault that I lost my leg. Why should I seek to make society pay?
The ‘disabled’ industry is second only to the race relations industry for preaching pc nonsense.

There is no such thing in britain today as equality. The establishment and media at all levels are terrified of a swing of public opinion to the right. There may be a show of interest of BNP policies but they need following up, because of the terrible mess the country is in now the right has a chance. The problem is we are made out to be a racist minority by the sneaky liberal left, it’s sickening what these people stand for. They have no guts or morals and they are selling our chidrens futures to similar minded gutless thieves who are hiding in Brussels with their heads in the trough filling their pockets. Compare yourself to a leftwing person, on the surface we look similar, but that’s where it ends, they will go out of there way to cause people discomfort whereas we just want the best for our families. I could go on and on, the right has a lot to overcome because the Marxist EU is afraid of us. We need to be patient and clever, but unlike the lilly livered left we cannot tell lies. That may be our problem, we are too honest. Only time will tell, but remember next time you look one of these jellyfish in the eye, stand tall and be grateful you’re not like them.

I’M ‘DISABLED ‘ i have a ‘war pension’.. your use of the ‘Shultz Staffle’ logo within the opening section of the article is worrying.. ( i suspect i’ve spelt it wrong ..after all i don’t speak German as a first language) To encourage new members to the way of the BNP i think images from the 30’s , 40’s etc are posibly not very positive…with a capitial ‘P’ .

Think of the vast amounts of money spent on black power statues, affirmative action, Joint Tenancy Agreement, expenses, quangos etc and imagine if those were abolished and the money used for the good of the public. How many billions of pounds could be put to good use? I would love to be able to put a figure on that.
