UKIP video humiliates one of its own - Why?

July 20, 2008 by News Team              Print Page Print Page            Email Page Email Page

A video posted on UTube provides a fascinating insight into the duplicitous world of UKIP. The video clip in question features a mock interview with a UKIP MEP candidate, a Mr John West, that was ostensibly made in order to judge Mr West’s suitability for selection as a prospective MEP.

The unfortunate Mr West was far from pleased, to put it politely, when he discovered that his ‘confidential’ interview had been posted on UTube together with the humiliating title of, ‘How not to do Politics’!

Asked to respond Mr West said, ‘I have been told by the Eastern Counties Regional Chairman that I came across badly and was not competent to represent UKIP. This mock TV interview was the basis for my rejection.’, says Mr West, ‘However, I am appalled that I had to find out in an email from a non member (sent to god knows how many) that this private and confidential interview has been posted on the internet. This video was posted without my permission.’

All most odd, especially as the video is alleged to have been filmed by two people very close to Nigel Farage MEP, namely Clive Page (ex BBC, and Common Purpose Instructor to BBC personnel), and an assistant to Nigel Farage, Annabelle Fuller.  Most cruelly the clip was entitled, ‘How not to do Politics’,  clearly showing that the video was posted with the intention of causing Mr West maximum embarrassment!  And they wonder why so many activists are walking away from the Nigel Farage Party, alias UKIP and joining the BNP!

Another aspect of this very public humiliation of one of their own members that is more than a little puzzling is this: In the process of asking his questions, Clive Page, does a marvellous hatchet job on UKIP’s claimed position within the political hierarchy. His demolition of the familiar UKIP claim to be the 4th largest party in Britain is especially damaging.

What is going on here? Why has this interview been posted into the public domain? Clearly it is something of a gift for UKIP’s political opponents to exploit, but that will not have been the prime purpose. No, this was part of something much bigger!

UKIP’s remaining members are being systematically demoralised by their own leaders. They need to think long and hard about why that is happening. They need to join the BNP, the only party that has a pledge to leave the EU written into its manifesto!

Righteous anger & political action:

The British National Party believes in telling the truth, even if it is sometimes uncomfortable to hear or offensive to those who would rather bury their heads in the sand than face real problems in our society. But while we often pass quite critical comment on the impact of immigration, multi-culturalism and alien religions on the indigenous people of our lands, we have no animosity towards immigrants, their descendants or the followers of non-native religions. Nor do we intend to encourage others to feel such animosity, or believe that anything we have to say is likely to 'stir up hatred' against anyone.

In fact, we believe that by providing a peaceful and Constitutional outlet for the anger and the frustration felt by millions of our people over the undemocratic transformation of our country by our political masters, the BNP actually defuses tensions. Where there is 'hate' we seek to turn it into righteous anger and political action against the only people who deserve to be hated - the politicians who use our taxes to turn our country into a place where we often feel like strangers in our own land.

Mr John West now knows what a right shower EUkip are. Maybe he would like to join the BNP as he obviously opposed to the EU which no other party is.

Yes, Mr Brown, this smells of duplicity at the highest levels.

I thought the chap did pretty well - held his argument despite aggressive questioning (as one would expect). Also - remember that in a game of chess (for instance) an apparent “mistake” is often made in order to win. An opponent’s ability to spot what IS a mistake is vital.

Can anyone seriously now claim EUkip are the fouth largest party in Britain? The BNP clearly hold that position and we are also well on our way to overtaking the Lib Dems. Incidently, can anyone recall the last time they saw a Lib Dem “spokesperson” on TV?!

Let me get this right, the EU is a sham and when they set laws we can not do anything about it, so the purpose of the UKIP is when we vote them all in they will tell us that the EU is a sham and when they set laws we can not do anything about it??? so the purpose of the UKIP is ?????? .

The (common) purpose of EUkip is to fool people and steal votes from the BNP.
EUkip is a construct and confederate of the eu/liblabcon/islamist party. Why else would the bbc have Farage on so often and not a real anti-eu party leader?
People who vote for EUkip are voting for the EUSSR. If you want out and your country back, vote BNP - Ed

The 4th biggest party? Think he means the 4th most hated. If you look close you can see his strings being pulled like a thunderbirds puppet. I wonder which hand is in which body opening to move his lips?

I don’t pretend to have a clue as to what the motive, or motives, in posting this video were, but if it was part of some left-wing subterfuge then it either isn’t very good, or it comes with a calculated risk on the left’s part. It seems to be a clear clarion call to join the BNP. What ever the motives behind it, it can surely only help the BNP - or does anybody out there have a different take on it?

Youtube’s poster has removed this video - I wonder why? (I checked ‘Utube’ just in case you meant this). Well done on downloading and saving it! I have to say I wasn’t too impressed by the chap. Wouldn’t it be amusing to see similar videos for NuLab candidates…

At least if Mr. west had been in the BNP he would have had the chance to attend the summer school and learned how to respond in this type of interview scenario.

Looks like EUKIP doesn’t give the same level of support to it’s officials!

UKIPs MEPs are in the EU to expose corruption - What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does this gentleman not read the press? Isn’t his local UKIP MEP recently reported helping the police with their equiries?

  11. jao7 on July 20th, 2008 12:36 pm

I tell everybody I know the undemocratic hideously expensive nature of the EU.
And I don’t draw a single penny for doing so!.
Nobody likes the EU, so what is UKIP’s reason for existence now?.
Mr. West, ukip on the way your going, you will soon be history.

  12. Warriorbrave on July 20th, 2008 12:39 pm

This poor sod was set up he is a decent man although we want out of the EU .The people interviewing him think we are stupid we can see rite through this charade! BNP will bring us out. Get rid of this coruption! Only the BNP will take us forward. They say what we think.
We should bring this poor man into our fold and look after him.

I would really enjoy seeing Gordon Brown in a similar interview, defending his decision to deny the British People the promised referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
He could also explain to us the benefits of giving our Country away to Europe. He might also like to tell us how lucky we are to be swamped in debt and immigrants, and so overpopulated there is not room to swing a cat.
If Brown was anything of a man he would expose himself to such a rigorous grilling, by a competent person, to explain his dirty Communist deeds.
Looks like the despicable Traitor will hide behind his position though.

  14. Strider on July 20th, 2008 2:02 pm

Mr. West looked unsure, uncertain and in over his head.

Without ideological support, no-one can answer tough questions.

Answers from a BNP candidate would come not so much from facts and figures, but a verbalisation of the passion locked within the British people. It is passion and ideology which will free our land, not wishy-washy number crunching.

Mr. West would be welcome in the BNP, but only if he can comprehend what I’ve just written. The same goes for any non-member viewing this who is interested in joining and becoming active in our quest for a re-awakening.

On my local radio station phone in recently,a listener came on who was allowed an appreciable time to express his sentiments as to the way the Country was going, particularly as regards the immigration problem and The EU. There was no doubt that he was a BNP supporter albeit he did not mention the party by name. Even the presenter seemed sympathetic to his point of view. My wife and I were surprised at this.
However after a fair interval, another very articulate and well prepared ‘Listener’ came on and proceeded to demolish the previous contributor’s argument, apparently gradually winning over the presenter to his point of view.
After listening to this on what is of course a BBC local radio station, no further listeners points were raised (allowed) thus leaving most of the audience convinced that they were wrong to be sympathic to the first points made, and were made to feel glad that they had realised their mistake.
This I can tell you, is a common Phsycological way of persuading people to your point of view.
You make them just about convinced of the validity of the first approach and then destroy their confidence in that belief.
The BBC do it all the time in most of their current range of Dramas and Soaps. This is the Approach UKIP must now be taking.

I feel very sorry for Mr West, he seems like his political views are sensible, but his party is, as was said, a spent force. He certainly did come across as having very little conviction, however perhaps this was simply because he knows UKIP are on the way down and as an honest chap he is uncomfortable with trying to spin it otherwise.

  17. SheriffofNottingham on July 20th, 2008 6:07 pm

Poor Mr West, obviously a tolerable sort of guy, trying to stick up for the unstickupable-for. He obviously sees the EU as what it is, a sham, a cesspit and a danger, but cannot go further than that under an aggressive grilling. By the way, the interviewer was right and had him by the goolies, as was only to be expected given the truth of the matter. Both types of men, the aggressive griller and the devoted loyalist, are useful to a party and the one could ideally learn from the other. However, not by trying to defend the indefensible. So, John West, take a walk over to the BNP and find out how to bring out and use your estimable qualities to your best advantage and bring with you the facts you learned from your tormentor about the party you support and set them in their correct context over here. The BNP will show you how to survive an exit from the EU, plus they won’t crap on you when you endeavour to show your support.

While the UKIP MEPs are snorting, slavering, grunting, chomping and slurping at the the Brussels trough, Farage’s minions have put up this poor, weak, wimp of a man to defend what he himself clearly knows to be the indefensible.

They must have known in advance, given that UKIP is a red herring and a declining force, that an experienced, hard-nosed interviewer would take full advantage of the fact that John West’s ammunition magazine was empty, to crush and humiliate him.

The only motivation for doing this to him and then publicising the debacle would seem to be to force
the poor fellow to quit the party; he is, after all, an honest man and this must surely be a disqualification for membership of a party whose very existence is a gross deception of the voters.

Yes, I’m sure he would be welcome in the BNP but I do feel that considerable effort would need to be put into turning him from a naive, gentle and distinctly wimpish boy into a strong, fully responsible, powerfully self-motivated MAN. Quite a task, one would suggest.

  19. Angryman on July 20th, 2008 8:31 pm

The government sponsored UKIP officials now see UKIP as surplus to requirements, now that Brown and HM have ratified the the Lisbon Treaty. They have served their purpose as a safety valve for anti-EU sentiment, they are now just a pain in the a**e in Brussels. The government have probably been instructed by Brussels to get rid of them.

The British Government, either Tory or Labour, will probably get the same instruction about us if the BNP get `troublesome` MEPs elected, so we will need to be on our guard.

We do need to publicise our anti-EU position more, most of the public still think that immigration is our only concern. If our position on the EU was more widely known, then I am sure not only would many UKIP voters vote for us, but more of the other voters would as well.

  20. apest on July 23rd, 2008 12:16 am

There’s a lesson in this that everyone has missed. We must all be vigilant and stick together to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t happen to the BNP. If this is the current state of play be prepared for similar attacks to happen in our back garden; remember protect and survive.
