BNP Contest Local Council By-election in Boston Today

THE British National Party is involved in just one local council by-election today and that is for a seat in the Coastal ward of Boston District Council.

The election was caused by the resignation of councillor Neil McGregor from the Boston Bypass Independents (BBI) who was allegedly caught drinking and driving which was rather embarrassing for the local transport-orientated pressure group.

The candidates standing are:
Boston District Council
Coastal Ward
Thursday 24th July 2008
David Durrant (BBI)
Pam Imlah (Lab)
David Owens (BNP)
Felicty Ransome (UKIP)
Raymond McGuire (Con)
Ossy Snell (Lib-Dem)
May 2007: BBI 681, 515, Con 557, Ind 354, UKIP 123.

The local BNP election team, helped by activists from Leicester and Charnwood, have worked hard to raise the profile of British National Party candidate David Owens. A recent day of action saw the team deliver the election address in the villages of Leverton, Benington, Butterwick and Freiston.

One activist told the BNP’s Regional Website:
“We have had nothing but positive responses to our leafletting and many times there were words of support such as ‘it’s about time something was done to sort the country out’ and ‘we’ve already voted for you by post and so have our neighbours,’ from those people we met. It’s been a good team effort all round.”

East Midlands Election Officer Wayne McDermott, provides a bit more background to the contest.
“We have only contested one seat in Boston before coming last behind UKIP (which doesn’t happen very often) with 11.5% in a multi-seat ward. This time we have the Liberal Democrats and Labour entering into the fray which will make matters even more interesting.
“Our main target is to beat UKIP, which polled 7.2% last time around coming last of the five candidates contesting the seat. It would also be nice to top 10% of the vote as well, which will be no mean achievement in this quite rural made ward up in the main of four villages.

“We are not quite sure what to expect but again the BNP is popping up and contesting seats where our opponents wouldn’t expect us too. We are building up an impressive list of candidates in the region as we warm up for the big election push next year.”

  2. All the best Dave, well done for starting the ball rolling in Boston.

Not our heartland by any means but a clear indication of the BNP’s growth.

Keep up the good work, onwards and upwards. Slow, steady and sustainable growth!!!

  5. Best of luck to David and team, from BNP Wirral (in the forming).

We all know how hard a battle we have with the dirty tricks that are played because our opponents haven’t got the bottle to fight honest, clean campaigns. Which is good, because it proves that even with the filth used that they call politics makes every little step, every vote, every positive thought of the now more aware and responsive public a considerable victory in all our eyes.

Best of British, we will all be hoping for the best.

  6. As I have said to Martin and he has put in the report, this is a hard area for us, and I personally am not sure what to expect. The good thing from a regional point of view, is that we are picking up in the rural areas, which will strengthen our euro vote next year, plus it gives the people of Boston a voice and our members a bit of experience about elections.
I will comment on the result tomorrow and hopefully we will poll well. I would like to thank David for being a good candidate who has put time and effort in to this election, and used the excellent website votewise to his and our advantage.

Thankyou Wayne. We look forward to your report.
Good luck and best wishes to David and his election team.

  7. Best wishes to David Owens and all the BNP election team and not forgetting the support from Leicester and Charnwood activists. It sounds like a difficult area first time out - but one never knows in this our tottering state in this reeling world.

Coastal Ward is unlikely to get any national media coverage of course; unless that is, they try to bury more bad news from Glasgow with less bad news from Boston.

Is that good luck from a caulkhead (island born), grockel (island visitor) or an overner (moved to island) :-) - Ed

geoffgc: I’m afarid I’m a ‘overner’ for the past 14 years, originate on the Wirral though, but had to get away from immigrants etc. I had enough, and wanted my sons to live a proper English life.

  9. The good people of that part of Lincolnshire are a hard working bunch and very down to earth. I understand that they have had more than their fill of immigrants, so David could do well in a very difficult ward. Here’s wishing you nothing but success David.

  10. The Best of British from Shropshire, David.

It sounds like you’ve worked extremely hard and you deserve every success.

  11. I’ve only just realised that Boston is in Lincolnshire. It’s a beautiful day for a by-election and perfect for a parachute display. Talking of which; I wonder if THAT parachute display took place in Lincoln last Friday? I tried phoning the Red Devils on Saturday to find out but I only got their answer machine. The weather looked decidedly ‘immoderate’ to say the least. Shame.

Good luck again to David Owens BNP.

  12. Is this Boston in Linconshire, If it is they have always had immigrant and gipsy involvement in the veg picking. So this community is one would say used to them. So it will be interesting to see the outcome. They may be comfortable or they may be feeling a teeny weeny bit enriched. Best of luck David and your team. Forward with the BNP.

    ….
The difference being that under the SAW (seasonal agricultural workers) scheme, the foreigners came, picked the crop, got paid and then went back to their own countries. Unlike now they had no British citizenship rights, no residency rights, no welfare benefits and no use of our resources. The crops still got picked, didn’t they? -Ed

  15. Best of luck to you David and all the people helping you.

The BNP are now a respected bunch of people who love their country, and are often respected by none Nationalists for their determination in fighting all the lies told about the BNP by other so called political parties.

  16. Good luck to you David, but if people have any sense you wont need it.

  18. Hwll fawr from the mountains of Eryri.

It now seems that we are involved in a by election every week. Unfortunately, the Chief Publicity consultants of the UAF are having difficulty keeping up to date. The list of our councillors is about a year out of date. They are performing worse than the reported £24 million pound debt of the Labour Party. That is BAD!

Ed! If Labour go bankrupt how far will the demand for money go down the Pyramid? Might it be best for all of them to jump ship NOW?

  19. The Result

    Con 344
    BBI 306
    Lib Dem 213
    BNP 119 (10.7%)
    UKIP 88
    Labour 44

    Turnout 37.3%

Both targets met and i did think we would meet them if i am honest.

A good effort. Well done and thanks, WMcD. - Ed.
