We should all display the flag of St George at every opportunity.

This sort of story really enrages me. I didn’t serve in HM’s Armed Forces to see my fellow countrymen being treated like criminals for being patriotic.
It is not illegal to display the Flag of St George (if it has no writing on it) and he should have told the police officer to get stuffed and demanded to be taken to court.

I would answer any policeman who stopped me for having a St George’s flag: “This flag cannot be racist because it is the emblem of a nation, not a race. There is no flag of the white race. I lived in Spain for a few years & they fly their Flag at every chance they get. I was not offended by this because it’s their Country. I’d like to add that the multicultural society has another purpose: an aggregate of minorities that have nothing in common and do not even WANT to live together creates fear and a need for protection. I am quite sure that some nationalist parties at EU level are sharing ideas, but indeed cooperation should be extended to maximize efficiency. Note that there is a risk: for instance, the FN people (France) have refrained from going to Ireland ahead of their EU referendum, for fear that the PC/EU/dhimmi brigade might use it to discredit the No vote.

On the other hand, the EU parliament for instance, is a good place for nationalist parties to unite (useless as that parliament may be at present).

There is also the difficulty that nationalist/indentity forces are divided even within their respective countries. The BNP loses some of its potential electorate to UKIP. In France there are three parties, FN, MNR and MPF, and while some people create bridges the rivalries are enormous. I guess it’s the same all over the place. When will people understand that it’s time to regroup around common values for survival… this is URGENT!

In terms of Islamo-resistance, pan-European movements do exist. Most notably the SIOE. At the moment, just telling the truth IS a subversive act of resistance in our countries. There are lots of information websites in English and in other languages.

Difficult for an EU migrant like me not to be slightly uneasy about the BNP, when the BNP in power would bar me from getting a job in the UK that a Brit could do. However, I understand where they come from and there is a bigger emergency. I voted for the BNP in the London local elections, so I did play a small part in the success of Richard Barnbrook. Well I’m glad I did.

We all fly the EU flag on our number plates. To be consistent, we ought to remove this in case a non-EU immigrant is offended. Just cover it up with PVC tape.

The deluded PC PC had probably just completed a Diversity Awareness course, which will have A) cost thousands B) took him away from front line duties and C) turned him into one of NuLab’s thought-controlled, politicised social workers instead of a police officer.

It is not surprising that the police have lost respect recently, even from utterly law-abiding citizens. We all know there are brave and dedicated officers, but in my experience and that of colleagues there are far too many narrow-minded, dull, unimaginative plods who see policing as a “them and us” situation. One of the most unappealing aspects of many police officers is that they have to have the final say, even when they know they are in the wrong.

A builder mate was stopped and when the officers couldn’t find anything wrong with his van, they emptied the entire contents onto the pavement and after still finding nothing wrong, drove off without an apology. I was stopped and my tax disc checked (this took 12 officers) and despite have a fully valid tax disc, I was kept waiting in the blazing heat for 45 minutes. Eventually they let me go but not before slapping a “producer” on me and checking my lights when I dared to complain.

I suspect that something similar happened in the case you report. The officer couldn’t find anything wrong with Ben’s car or documents, so telling him to remove the flag was his way of having the last say.

It is high time that the police started to behave like public servants rather than jumped-up nightclub bouncers, and there is only one party that can bring that about. That is one of the many reasons you have my support.

Is there an actul law that prohibits the use or the carrying/possession of any British flag? I dont think so. But if there is somebody please tell me. The lad should have challenged the Gestapo officer and asked under what law did he have the right to order him remove the flag at all.
I have always been under the impression that an officer of the law has to know and state what law you are breaking before you are arrested or whatever.
In Brick Lane some years ago on a Sunday I witnessed two police officers trying to move on two women who were busking. One of the women asked “under what law can you make us move”, the officers could not give a resonable reply and after a little argument they left the women in peace.
If we dont speak up/stand up for ourselves now then (where have I heard this before) future generations will be saying ….. “They let it happen”.

Should have asked what the offence actually was.

Most police really wouldn’t have a clue to what crime this flag is breaking - they make it up of course.

Having received any fine this bloke should then complain to IPC, seek a solicitor and sue the police force.

I was intrigued to notice just now that my brief follow-up post has been removed. I suspect I know why this is so. After some time for reflection, I probably agree that it is wise to have removed it - if only for my own self-protection, sometimes hasty chap that I am. But I am speculating. I would just like to tell you briefly things are developing in rural England. I live just outside Huntingdon,and as usual after the recent local elections,The Tories remained in control in Huntingdonshire District Council.
However last week it was announced in the local papers that a Moslem has been appointed as The Mayor of Huntingdon.
Now where I live is not yet I am pleased to say particularly enriched so it was very surprising that a member of what is still a small minority should be so honoured.
What was even more interesting though was the column in the local paper reporting this election,also reported that the appointment was a significant breakthrough.
Certainly a breakthrough, but for who one must ask!

“What kind of a police force do you have in Wiltshire? Having read about the young lad being stopped by one of your officers and threatened with a £30 fine for displaying a saint George flag on his parcel shelf.

All this reminds me of another flag story, in my family history. It’s a bit long but extremely revealing. Please bear with me… I assure you it’s worth it.

It’s something that happened to my dad. We were bursting with laughter when he recounted it, in a restaurant in London one evening. Told the right way it’s hilarious, but the reality of it when it happened must have been terrifying to his dad, my grandfather.

You see, like most little boys of his time, my dad was impressed by the military and by flags.

That time, his father had told him off severely for walking with a little flag of his, behind a military parade.

Not that my grandfather had anything against our national flag, not at all…

But you see, this was in occupied France during WWII.

My dad, 9 or 10 years old, had been marching behind a regiment and flying the flag.

But it was a nazi regiment he was following… and he was flying a French flag!

No wonder my grandad was not happy… he must have been absolutely terrified!

As it happened, they didn’t turn around and see him… who knows what could have happened.

How is that surreal situation relevant to the story of Ben Smith?

Simple: if you are told not to fly your flag, it means that your country is occupied, and not by friendly visitors.

I’ve had a huge Crusader flag on my parcel shelf for many months now, with a smaller Union Jack in the front of my car.

After reading this, I’ve just added a St George Cross and Union Jack as bumper stickers to my wife’s car.

I’d be more than happy to take my £30 fine to court!

At the 2010 World Cup which England WILL qualify for, all english people should fly the St George’s Flag on the window’s of their house and car window’s. If you do so already like me - then fantastic - keep up the good work. And by 2010 Labour will be long gone and you never know the St George’s flag might even make an appearance over Downing Street.

I am not one for going against the law, but I would have refused to remove the flag and pay the resulting fine, and I’d have told the copper I would see him in court.

I would then refuse to have my trial held at a magistrate court, insisting instead that I take advantage of my right to trial-by-jury as laid out in the Magna Carta.

I would have then watched as the jury laughed the case out of court.

We need to work within the law and must stand against such silly restrictions placed upon us by the misguided, politically correct establishment.

A great many first class contributions here. How many of our detractors could write with such passion and eloquence? Of everything I’ve read on this site over many months, this thread has truly convinced me of our need to spread the word as much as possible. I shall seek out a St George flag as soon as possible in the hope of getting a ‘pull’…maybe it’ll come from the same trouble-maker who pulled me recently for doing 33 mph through a tiny, deserted hamlet on a Tuesday afternoon.

And FFL, don’t be put off by a lot of anti-EU feelings. This does not mean we are anti-European. As a French citizen I have no problems with you coming here to work/live/visit without restriction. Same goes for other western Europeans. All I ask is that you remember and respect that we also have strong ties with Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US, and we do not want these ties eclipsed/eradicated by our Marxist masters in Brussels. A free Europe of co-operating nation-states is OK with me. We can build a strong European community without the unwanted, unelected, unaccountable, unnecessary layer of bureaucracy at an EU level. All their functions can be done by national parliaments working together. And each European country can keep its overseas ties, (which I equally respect). After all, it’s part of our heritage.

Ah… thanks Ed for letting me know. Shame, it was a long post and I don’t have a copy. Most of it was a reply to Rick where I said anti-EU sentiment didn’t bother me: I hate the EU.

Not Europe, I love Europe ye olde Christian realm, but I hate the EU, Eurabia, the Brussels dictature as much as any sensible person with a sense of history, culture and identity.

And I voted against the constitution, but of course our votes count for… nothing… that wasn’t even a surprise.

I was quite angry to see this young man, with the cross of St. George on his parcel shelf, it was like a red rag to a bull for me. It should have been on the outside of the car on his aerial flying proudly in the wind!

I just been thinking, this lad had a patriotic flag in his car & the old bill give him an earful! Has anyone seen ‘Britains Got Talent’lately? There are union jacks flags everywhere, & theyre on tv, so the whole country can see them, why are there no complaints from immigrants about racist flags?

Well my car is heavily clad in English paraphernalia. My local sports soccer shop are selling car kits, for £3.89! it includes, George Cross furry dice, aerial flag, window flags, window football kit, bumper magnets etc. I got 2, 1 for me, 1 for the missus. send PC Dibble to my town of Langwith, my post office has a St George Flag flying at full mast, as do many of the houses, see what answer he gets from 1 of the local ex miners when he tells them to remove there flag as its offensive! Sports Soccer also do a house kit, complete with bunting, flags, balloons etc. my house beared all of them on St Georges day, NO PLOD WILL STOP ME FLYING MY FLAG!
