Labour Party in deep financial trouble claim

There is a story in today’s Daily Telegraph that perhaps explains better than most, why the Labour Party in particular, is so in favour of the public funding of political parties – except the BNP - despite the millions of tax-pounds that its MPs pocket each year in allowances and expenses.

The article concerned begins:

The Labour Party is on the verge of insolvency after a collapse in donations so acute that it is struggling to pay staff.

The funding crisis has raised fears that auditors will be unable to sign off party accounts next month because of Labour’s £21 million debt.

A series of controversies over donations, involving police investigations, and Gordon Brown’s slump in the opinion polls, has driven away potential financial backers and members. The number of paid-up Labour Party members has fallen from 400,000 in 1997 to fewer than 200,000.

Only the trade unions, which have almost quadrupled their support in the past six months, are saving the party from being declared effectively bankrupt.

  1. Would the Labour Party approach the bank of England for a bail-out package just like Northern Rock, I wonder?

There is nothing I would like more than to see them go under.

  2. Possibly a moment for freedom loving people to reflect just why they are paying subs to the Marxist fat cats to prop up the vermin who were only just recently quite happy to rip off their little 10p tax break. A sub to Solidarity would not only get a worker better representation but also guarantees that union members money wasn’t being squandered on political parties who hate them so much that they want to replace them.

  3. Well that has brought a smile to my face. You may also be interested to see how despicable this corrupt party is via the link below. Whilst I don’t really care about Con/Lab fighting this just goes to show how low this party has become.

  4. This leaked news is the equivalent of a begging letter from this lib/lab/con party, who, deserted in droves by ordinary working-class people who have seen through their lies & pro-EU nation-wrecking agenda, still have large swathes of the British establishment luvvies & the like at their beck and call. New Labour’s big problem is will their cash cows fork out or decide to abandon a sinking ship & donate to a more attractive electoral proposition [the Tories?].

I’m sure the lib/lab/con artists already know the answer to that & have their plan in motion to continue their enslavement of the British people

As for their being in favour of the public funding of the lib/lab/con political parties only, this would bring a smile to the face of even the most cynical among us. These lib/lab/con traitors, preparing to dance on the grave of the United Kingdom, which they have sold out to the emerging EU superstate, want to deny the same public funding to the BNP, the only party telling the whole truth about mass immigration & the imminent demise of the UK.

When it comes to the interests of the indigenous British people they [& their compliant stooges in the media & trade unions] allow any third-world professionl ethnic to walk all over them. But when it comes to their own self-interest & feathering their own nests, these lib/lab/con charlatans have b—s of pure brass.

  5. The big problem is, bankrupt or not, they will still be able to carry on. Being bankrupt does not stop their councillors, MPs or MEPs keeping their elected positions, and they will all just reform under a new party name - ‘NEW NEW LABOUR’ sadly though with the same sad ‘OLD OLD’ corrupt bunch running it … Dave.

  6. The Labour Party is vile and deeply deserves to sink into oblivion, but one must be very careful about taking what the Daily Mail says at face value(This is my country).

On another page of this despicable rag Peter Osborne writes: “last September I was deeply shocked as Gordon Brown utilised the language of the BNP to promise “British jobs for British workers”. Deeply shocked, no less! How distressing for the smug, insouciantly arrogant Mr Osborne! What a shame, indeed.

The sentiments Brown expressed were admirable, the problem we have is that they are so far removed from the reality of what the “Labour” government has actually done.

No doubt Osborne visits this splendid site and casts a supercilious eye over the threads. If so I would like to ask him what precisely is amiss with British jobs for British workers? The plain truth is that the Mail is a nasty, squalid, Tory, cheap labour comic. And most of its employees would doubtless not disagree.

  10. I have been rattling on for months about the trade unions and would like to think that some did take notice, however there is no need to be without the protection of a trades union as to join solidarity union would be worth while.

  12. So Labour’s on the verge of bankruptcy–the news just keeps on getting better! “Self-conceit may lead to self-destruction”. Career politicians love to get their snouts in the trough, but it’s started to get empty, so let’s hear it for the BNP.

  16. More straws in the wind of good news heralding the crumbling facade and collapse of Labour. These corrupt nation-haters and wreckers can, however, be relied on to try to cling to power by all means in the face of all the mounting evidence of how much they are despised by the people. I look forward to more of this evidence in the upcoming election at Crewe, while thinking it’s a pity the BNP didn’t put up a candidate there. Is it now too late to do so?

It’s far too late, now. - Ed

  17. If it weren’t that we’re locked into a tragedy, this would be really funny. Labour have bankrupted Britain and are close to bankrupting their own party machine. This must be where cretinism meets ideology.

  18. “Only the trade unions, which have almost quadrupled their support in the past six months, are saving the party from being declared effectively bankrupt.”
Why contribute to any trade union whose support for the Labour party then demolishes the 10p tax band and makes the ‘WORKING MAN’ poorer?
Get out of the unions, scupper the labour party, join a proper union - SOLIDARITY.

  21. The reason I asked how many members we have is that I feel that we should contest every by-election that comes up. I do not know how much it costs. We have 30,000 members, so if we all gave £20.00 each whenever there was a by-election we could have a go.

    Posted by esselliott | May 17, 2008, 5:02 pm
  22. £21 million in debt, the UK debt has fallen from the 4th largest economy in the world to the 6th since Gordon Brown’s “prudent” management coupled with his “towering intellect”, we’re all paying to an EU monster more money than we can earn.

The demon is the BNP, of course. We are the Jews in Hitler’s Germany, the distraction that finds a scapegoat to shout at instead of the real enemy. Just as Hitler created a false image of a Jew that was easily loathsome, the establishment have now created a false image of a nationalist that is just the same.

I am saddened to see that even the Times (which I used to hold in high regard) has done exactly that.

  25. Perhaps Cherie should wave her wand over Labour’s bankrupt bank account. According to Paul Scott’s article in the Daily Mail today, she was getting up to all sorts of weird stuff that was not revealed in her autobiography, such as trying to raise the dead, using sex as therapy, and making voodoo over jars of her and Tony’s hair and nail clippngs, plus many other strange goings-on with guru Jack Temple. A woman so dedicated to worshipping herself can only be described as satanic, along with many other leaders of today’s society.

  26. I haven’t joined yet although I do make donations. In my position, membership could be detrimental to my work prospects. What exactly is the situation with respect to companies’ biases against BNP members?

    -

Allan, any employer discriminating against you is breaking the law in several articles, including article 10 of the EU convention of human rights. The BNP is a legally and constitutionally recognised political party registered with the Electoral Commission. In any instance of discrimination you have recourse to the law on several fronts, as well as access, if you become a member, to the party’s legal department. Membership is a private affair and no one other than yourself and the party’s processing department is aware of it unless you choose to tell them. - Ed

  27. I somehow doubt that they will go under. Someone or something will intervene. Just imagine who would fill the hole if Liebour were to fail. We are the natural successors. The establishment is not ready for that, perhaps they never will be.

  28. The leadership of many Unions may be pro-Labour, but the workers they represent don’t have anything like the same loyalty. When the credit crunch really bites in a few months time then the membership will demand action - and then the union leaders will be between a rock and a hard place. They may be forced to turn on the Labour government just as they did with Jim Callaghan in the mid-70s. And when Labour lose the backing of the unions then they really will be on the ropes!

  32. Watch out for the scams. In Burnley the BNP have exposed that for years the Labour office building was registered as a charity, therefore liable for less poll tax etc. It was put down as an error!!! Will they pay back what they owe? I doubt it. The Labour party abandoned the white working class generations ago and embraced the politics of left-wing sociology students. Now the white working class have seen through them (and not just the working class!) and have, and are, finding a home in the BNP where they know their voice is heard and their ambitions for family and nation will be realised.

  34. Re Allan of Aberdeen’s comment about BNP membeship damaging employment prospects.

I was told several years ago by my employers that anyone joining the BNP would be sacked. All employees had to approved by the Home Office, the monitor could withdraw this approval and the company would be unable to employ you.

It is not uncommon for people in the private prison/detention industry to lose their job because the government contract monitors withdraw or refuse their badge.

  36. DS’s concerns are in the public sector, especially local government, education and police. As a consultant in the oil and gas sector, I am not sure whether PC-companies such as BP and Shell would put work in my direction, or even allow others to do so. Believe me - I have worked there and PC describes them.
I am also interested to know whether my joining the BNP would be of greater benefit than the donations which I and my partner make e.g. say £2000 as donations or £2000 donated less the cost of my membership. How does my membership bring real, increased benefits?
Note to Ed - If your response is persuasive, I’ll join!

If you’re throwing that kind of dosh our way, I’d say you need to join the BNP if only to get your money’s worth. It is your destiny. Join us, and together we can bring order to the Galaxy… :) Ed.

  37. Labour are not only financially bankrupt, they are also morally and politically bankrupt as well.

Their dirty tricks department which slandered Dr. David Kelly and a ninety year old lady who complained about NHS treatment is complicit in lying and denigrating anyone who stands in their way.

Their tactics would be a credit to Stalin, which is no real surprise, considering that most of them follow his ideology.

The sooner they are got rid of, and I don’t care how, the better for the entire nation.

  38. “The number of paid-up Labour Party members has fallen from 400,000 in 1997 to fewer than 200,000.”

So at this rate they’ll be completely extinct by 2119.

Perhaps the BNP government of 2115 might consider setting up some sort of Jurassic Park where this endangered species (Marxistus moronicus) may be preserved for scientific investigation and the amusement of tourists.

  45. Membership down from 400,000 to 200,000, that’s a serious drop in sadism in this country at least. It could be that Labour will collapse and working class Labour voters find the switch to the BNP very easy–I did. We are getting the oxygen of publicity, drip by drip, and although negative. it puts us in the mainstream whether people like it or not. I make the educated assumption that our membership is growing, which means we are in the right place, with the right policies, at the right time.
