Vote for the British National Party Lions in the 2009 European Elections

East Mids: All eyes on Heanor West on May 1st

THE last time this cycle of local elections in the East Midlands was contested was back in 2004 when the British National Party managed just two candidates, both in Amber Valley. This time around, the BNP has 16 candidates standing for 5 of the 6 councils which are up for election, and this is in addition to fighting a by-election the week before everyone goes to the polls on May 1st.

The by-election is for Hinckley & Bosworth Council and our candidate is Mike Shore who is contesting the Liberal Democrat stronghold of Hinckley Castle on April 24th. Wayne McDermott, the East Midlands elections officer, is confident of beating Labour here and hopeful of taking second place from the Tories.

“We are running a decent little campaign,” he reported yesterday evening. “Although there has only been limited canvassing so far, we have put out four leaflets which shows we mean business. The Lib-Dems are pulling out all the stops though, having already delivered an incredible 8 leaflets. We are keen to make an impact here in an area which hasn’t yet really taken off for the BNP.”

On May 1st, the BNP will have seven candidates standing in Amber Valley and all eyes will be on Heanor West where Labour has just a 15 vote majority over the BNP. In today’s climate, this should be a cast iron BNP ‘gain’ but there are some words of caution against over optimism from Wayne McDermott.
“We have contested Heanor West twice before, coming second on both occasions with 30% plus of the vote and only narrowly missing victory in 2006. This near miss was due to a huge regional effort with the whole of the BNP in the East Midlands campaigning in the ward. On May 1st in the East Midlands we have another fourteen seats to contest and we won’t be able to do concentrate our efforts like we did then.”

The BNP candidate in Heanor West is Lewis Allsebrook, a local parish councillor who only recently took over as BNP organiser for Amber Valley and Wayne is enthusiastic about the future of the BNP here.
“Lewis has done a great job in getting together the biggest ever slate of BNP candidates to stand for this council, but my worry is that these elections may have come all too soon for Lewis and his team. Whatever the result in Heanor West, we are going places in Amber Valley under his guidance and the future looks very bright indeed. The votes here on May 1st will be a clear indication of growing support across the borough.”

Here are Wayne McDermott’s thoughts on the other seats being contested across the East Midlands and the details.

Bassetlaw: Dave Otter will be our lone candidate contesting Clayworth ward. He will be looking to improve on the 177 votes (21.7%) he received in Everton ward back in 2006. Dave is doing a great job in keeping the BNP flag flying in this area.

Derby: There are two BNP candidates standing in Derby, again a first, and the local organiser Glynn Cooper has done a very well in recent months in bringing together an area in which we have always struggled. Glynn and his team are mounting two decent leaflet campaigns and this a chance to build up solid BNP foundations in the city so within a couple of years we will have BNP councillors in Derby.

May 2007: Con 1588, Lab 1468, Lib-Dem 388.

Daventry: This is an area which has never seen or heard anything from the British National party until very recently. It’s a great effort by Northants BNP to get something off the ground in Daventry and this has resulted in our first ever candidate in the area. We don’t quite know what to expect, but this result could be a good indication for the European Election vote next year. If we can hit our target of 15%, which we aim for every election, we will be very happy and the way Northants BNP are working, it could be even higher!

David Jones (BNP)
Opponents: Lab, Con.
May 2007: Con 688, Lab 534.

Lincoln: Last year we pulled out all the stops to find candidates to contest every ward in the city which led to overall weak campaigns. But we did achieve our main target of beating UKIP in 10 of the 11 wards both parties fought. This year we have just 5 candidates as we look to improve our average vote and fight much stronger campaigns. The result of last year’s strategy can be clearly seen this year as UKIP have managed just two candidates compared to the 15 they put forward last year. More interestingly is that the 2 UKIP candidates don’t even live in Lincoln, they are from West Lindsey where they are also contesting elections.

Opponents: Lab, Con.
May 2007: (Top Vote) Con 1189, Lab 530, Lib-Dem 325, BNP 306, UKIP 204.

Moorland
Olivia Wolverson (BNP)
Opponents: Lab, Con, Lib-Dem.
May 2007: (Top Vote) Con 836, Lab 712, BNP 335.

This time around there are no ‘paper’ BNP candidates standing in the East Midlands. Every candidate is getting a campaign, with the minimum effort consisting of at least one election leaflet. In this region the Party is clearly focussed on our number one target which is to get a MEP elected in 2009 and like all the by-elections campaigns we have fought in the East Midlands over the past 12 months, these 16 seats being contested on May 1st will form an integral part of our European Election strategy.

Righteous anger & political action:

The British National Party believes in telling the truth, even if it is sometimes uncomfortable to hear or offensive to those who would rather bury their heads in the sand than face real problems in our society. But while we often pass quite critical comment on the impact of immigration, multi-culturalism and alien religions on the indigenous people of our lands, we have no animosity towards immigrants, their descendants or the followers of non-native religions. Nor do we intend to encourage others to feel such animosity, or believe that anything we have to say is likely to 'stir up hatred' against anyone.

In fact, we believe that by providing a peaceful and Constitutional outlet for the anger and the frustration felt by millions of our people over the undemocratic transformation of our country by our political masters, the BNP actually defuses tensions. Where there is 'hate' we seek to turn it into righteous anger and political action against the only people who deserve to be hated - the politicians who use our taxes to turn our country into a place where we often feel like strangers in our own land.

Good luck to all our candidates, especially to Glynn Cooper, and Paul Hilliard in Derby. It is great to see people putting their heads above the parapet in a predominately Labcon stronghold. Come on people let’s stop the rot, VOTE BNP!

We’ve recently moved to Heanor so you’ve got our votes as well this time round.
    Good luck!

Just a comment because I don’t understand why it’s so important to get a BNP MEP into the EU as they only have the power to suggest changes to the law which has been made up behind closed doors by the unelected EU Commission, they get two minutes of floor time or less to put their points across and they have an electronic vote, so no high degree of debate takes place. UKIP did not change a thing as far as I’m aware, unless I’m shown otherwise it’s a waste of time.

Would it not be better concentrate our efforts into getting elected into power in the UK and withdrawing?

Please educate me on this because I don’t honestly know.

The next best thing to a BNP Government in power now, and immediate withdrawal from the EU, is to insert Trojan horses into their ‘club’ just as they have inserted Trojan horses into our country. - Ed.

Ed: I think I’ve asked about this before but is there a legal requirement for us to list candidates in alpahabetical order - or list others at all by name? I only ask again because of where Mike Shore’s name is on our very own list, coming after the Con/Lab Candidates

If there is a legal requirement or convention, the BBC Ceefax lot seem to ignore it. I cannot see any reason whatsoever why Richard Barnbrook’s name is listed after the UKIP/Left List candidate or why Islamic Red Ken should be first just because he is the (outgoing) Mayor - other than devious spin. It is (imho) an attempt to minimise the BNP importance while maximising Labour importance by number on the list. If they have broken the law, they should be reported. If they haven’t, then I think we should start doing likewise - or omitting these other names altogether. I have reproduced the CEEFAX page exactly:

It is vitally important to get BNP candidates into the European Parliament. This is because we all know what new Europe really is and we need someone on its inside to voice what the people are really thinking and in general, to give them a hard time.

  6. Catmar on April 14th, 2008 4:11 pm

So, like you say, a Trojan Horse–okay, I can go along with that. Thanks for the comment Ed and Leon.

Winston. I watched Newsnight last week and have a similar point to yours. Why did they only interview Khan Livingstoned (proven), Boris the Muslim (allegedly) and some liberal ( I think….I’ve forgotten, who cares). These campaigns cost lots of money to get into the public mind so why should these three get free broadcasting to millions of potential voters? The kind of publicity they got would be a godsend to us. Why did Mr Barnbrook and the other candidates just get a brief mention that there were in fact other candidates to choose from, seconds from the end of the programme? People could almost be forgiven for not knowing about anybody else standing. I almost thought that Paxman would say at the end of the programme that three other candidates would be interviewed the next night, so on and so forth so they all got a fair crack of the whip. But hey, this is the Beeb and pigs don’t fly.

Good luck. I’m proud of you. BNP 4 me.

It looks like our team pulled together against the odds! Never too soon for some people.
