BNP contesting 21 seats in Barnsley
“WE realise that we are in for a long battle but Barnsley, one day, will be a British National Party stronghold.”
That’s the view of Ian Sutton, the Barnsley BNP organiser, as he prepares for the all important local elections in the town.
The BNP is fielding 21 candidates out of a total of 22 and are confident of improving on last year’s performance when they finished second in three seats, Central, Dearne North and Darton West. Labour is in big trouble in the town, and have an overall majority that is down to just three on the council. Its vote is seeping away by the day and people who have voted Labour all their lives are now turning to the British National Party.
For the last 12 months, Barnsley BNP have worked as hard as any BNP branch in the country. They have a Freedom stall in the town centre most Saturdays, selling anything from 50 to 80 copies in a couple of hours. They have separate teams campaigning in individual wards and each with their own door-to-door Freedom round.
The monthly branch meetings regularly attract audiences of over 100, and when Nick Griffin spoke just before Christmas there was a head count of nearly 200 to hear him.
Ian Sutton is confident the Party will make progress on May 1st, increasing its votes and positioning itself in at least eight wards to become the main challenger.
“I have just come in from canvassing in Darton West,” Ian told me last night.
“In an hour and a half, I had just five negative responses. I’ve been campaigning in the ward all year and the Freedom round just gets bigger, with some residents buying multiple copies to give away to friends and family. The Labour leader of the council has been out in the ward, but seems to spend most of his time arguing with voters. He as been heard to say - ‘It will be a sad day WHEN the BNP get in, in Barnsley’, which encourages us even more.”
The opposition are using every tactic they can to try to stem BNP advancement in Darton West. A disgraceful Lab/Con pact has resulted in an Independent candidate on the ballot paper who has stood twice for the Tories and just happens to reside at the same address as the recently retired leader of the Conservatives in Penistone. If this lady was really interested in being an Independent councillor, she would stand in her own ward where she is known. It’s a desperate ploy, a Tory masquerading as an Independent in an effort to take votes off the BNP to keep Labour in power.
And the opposition are desperate. Peter Marshall is the BNP candidate in Central ward and is standing there for the second time. He is a tireless community worker but at a recent meeting a Labour councillor objected to his presence, refusing to sit at the same table as him. He even went as far as to turn his seat so he was facing the wall - how ignorant can you get?
Colin Porter contesting Darton East was on the Flood Action Team in his ward but local Labour councillors demanded that he was removed. He also attended the ward’s Crime & Safety meeting and once again a Labour councillor tried to get him barred, only to be over-ruled by the Police running the meeting.
Ian Sutton was also on the Flood Action Team and when he turned up to the first meeting, two Labour councillors tried to have him ejected. The residents were in uproar and told the councillors in no uncertain terms that they wanted Ian to stay.
Just like in end-of-term exams, Barnsley BNP are to be marked by the town’s residents for their year’s work - and the feedback on the doorstep is that they are going to do rather well.

Good luck to all the candidates in Barnsley. 2008 is going to be a BIG year for the BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY!
Thank you WelshPatriot, good luck to all the candidates up and down the country. - Ed
Barnsley Independent already have 7 out of 21 seats. One in three? Also no less than 5 independents, all with high votes. I counted 11 seats currently held by Labour, with votes against split several ways; couldn’t you do a deal with some of these presumably locally patriotic people? Oh well — you must have thought of that. Good luck esp. getting rid of ‘Labour’.
I bet the dirty tricks departments of the liblabcon artists are running around like headless chickens,
I wish all the candidates all the best of luck.
The BNP ones that is.
Good luck to all BNP candidates in Barnsley in the coming elections.
I think within the next five years they will have taken over from the ‘ far left ‘ who have always ruled South Yorkshire with an iron fist.
Good luck to all the good people of Barnsley on May 1st.
The beautiful thing is that even when we don’t win, it sends a message to the one-party-with-three-names that there is a sizeable percentage of the electorate that hold the same views as us. This in turn forces them to act in the interests of the people to prevent us from taking the moral high ground. Well done, chaps.
It’s funny you should mention doing a deal; we had an email from a chap asking us to drop Lisa from the St Helens ward because they have a good Independent candidate and thought it a bad idea to split the vote. We totally agree with that, but can’t understand why they haven’t withdrawn their candidate. It’s not rocket science, Join the BNP and stand as a candidate for the fastest growing party in Barnsley, or start to get accustomed to defeat. True patriots are welcome to cross the floor anytime they wish.
Barnsley Nationalists wishes every BNP candidate the best of luck for 1st May, let’s make 2008 our year!
Well, there are twelve independent candidates all of whom had high votes. Some of them must want things similar to the BNP (though for all I know many may be part of the immigrant blocs, or be part of some evasive Lib Dem style ideology favouring ‘Public Finance’ and large debt). It seems a shame to split the anti Labour vote in an area where there’s such a high level of independence. But I don’t know any details.
One problem for Labour with courting the immigrant vote is that many Poles are Catholic or at least Christian and will certainly not want to vote for a party so obviously in league with the Islamists in this country.
From the figures given, it would appear, on the face of it, to be a very hard task for our candidates to be elected. However, things are happening so quickly at the moment that I have no doubt we will be successful.
The last time I saw such a sea change as this was in the dying days of the Callaghan government. Even so, the swing from left to right was nowhere near as rapid.
The loony Left have nowhere to hide now, and the loony Left these days has to include the Tories as well as Labour and Lib Dems.
Apart from its populist message, a major strength of BNP candidates is that they are constantly in touch with the people, not just appearing at election time! People realise that the BNP really do care about them.
Barnsley is at the centre of the old coalfields where men used to work hard and play hard, spending their cash locally to stimulate the local economy.
I was working in Cotgrave, Notts coalfield, in the late 80’s and one of the, then, soon to be redundant miners told me that the coal seam there could last for 200 years.
In the UK we now have very little manufacturing industry which is the life blood to economies.
Therefore I suggest that a future BNP administration reopens the coal mines thus regenerating whole swathes of the country. Not only would this make us more self sufficient in energy terms but it would create thousands of ancillary jobs in back up industries.
There is now science available to create “clean” coal so we could start to export the stuff and begin to reduce the balance of payments for the UK.
——
My understanding is, we are sitting on at least four hundred years’ supply of the best-quality deep-mined coal in Europe. How much of it is still extractable after the closures, is another matter. Perhaps we ought to be finding out, as a matter of urgency. - Ed.
Fair enough, Barnsley nationalist, you’re there on the ground. But I can see why ‘Barnsley Independent’ may not want to be in the BNP, as presumably they want more locally-made decisions; there’s a party like that where I live. They say they represent the local community interests as against larger areas liable to swallow them up or overrule them. Good luck anyway — you must get abuse and geneal crap, such as being barred from some jobs — good on you for standing up against all this.
Not wishing to be party pooper but are we not very near to the point in Barnsley where the Muslim vote is very near to the majority? Replicated elsewhere in the country in years to come. Imagine who will hold the upper hand. Labour does not care, for any vote to stay in power is all they care about, regardless of the future mayhem.
BNP you have a hard wall to climb I just hope you prevail.
Good luck to all the BNP candidates in Barnsley :)
The big three PC parties can afford to spend a small fortune on leaflets. The BNP cannot. So here is a suggestion. Why not put up templates of leaflets on the BNP website, which supporters can download and printout at home and stick in the letterboxes of their neighbours. It’s just a suggestion, but every little bit counts. As my old mum used to say. ‘Take care of the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves’.
Well done Barnsley, but couldn’t you have beaten Cardiff City in the F.A Cup semi final? We’ll never hear the end of this!
Swansea City fan.
The crisis engulfing Gordon Brown’s leadership has deepened after the man he hand-picked to clean up Labour’s finances held back from taking up the job amid fears about the party’s £20 million debt.
Oh dear, oh dear!

Good! Left wing violence ie. sometimes successfully smashing up the BNP stall, failed to work for the forces of left-wing anti democracy. It must be so frustrating to be a left-winger right now. They can’t win through violence and they can’t win through their failed Marxist ideology.
Congratulations to Barnsley BNP!
I liked the bit describing one Labour councillor turning his chair to face the wall. What a total pratt, so childish. Maybe he needed a dunce’s hat to fill the picture in.
And this from a person that has been elected to represent the people. When the so-called big three have councillors of ths calibre to call on no wonder the country is in such a state.
MAY THE FIRST YEAHHHHHH!!
if the good people of Barnsley think Nu Labour give a hoot about them, think again. Council tax up, fuel bills up, unemployment up,don’t put up with this uncaring, money-grabbing, corrupt Labour lot,it’s time for real change brits for brits, so come on Barnsley VOTE BNP and send the lab, tory and libs a strong message. The Brits have had enough back-stabbing and corruption, VOTE BNP, GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE BNP CANDIIDATES and FINGERS CROSSED.
This is such heartening news: a previous post has already said how Yorshire has been ruled with an iron fist by the Labour left. YOU ARE breaking the mould BNP, our people ARE waking up. I just want to add my best wishes to Barnsley BNP…and BNP candidates everywhere across Gt. Britain. Stirling work! C`mon everywhere vote BNP!
The best of British luck to all candidates in Barnsley. You’re “Troopers” all of you !!!
Paper sales every week, great idea! When are the children that the BNP are standing against going to GROW UP ?????? VOTE BNP (Charnwood Leicester)
What about Doncaster and Mexborough, when will we get to vote BNP? We need someone round here pronto!!!!!

Contact the Barnsley team, or you might wish to stand yourself. - Ed
The best of British to all the Candidates in Barnsley. You can’t keep a Yorkshireman on his knees forever. Up and at them. VOTE BNP. The lib/lab/con-artists have shown their destructive powers, it’s now our turn to actually DO something for the great people of Barnsley.
VOTE BNP - THE ONLY WAY BACK TO SANITY
Sweet Pea made a very good point - the BNP are in touch with us ordinary people of Britain. I think that makes a huge difference to the way the party is being perceived currently.
It is reassuring to know that the BNP really DOES put the concerns and problems of indigenous Brits first! Because all the other ‘parties’ seem to give preference to the incomers - muslims in particular.
The BNP have seen the frustrations and anger this generates, and are the only party who listens to us.
Good luck to all the candidates, in Barnsley and everywhere else.
What do the three parasite parties expect? They have got so used to selling us out, they think it has become their right to do it.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Well Done the ‘Tykes’ , keep the flag flying.
Yippee–and it’s Up the BNP, it’s Barnsley’s time! C’mon and we’ll all stand together.
Good luck guys, from little acorns do mighty oaks grow!!
A brilliant effort by the Tykes. Labour must be very worried! If the BNP make gains in Barnsley it could be the serious writing on the wall. Our Best Wishes.
Turning your chair to face the wall, wanting BNP members thrown out of meetings, tory as independant.
Not the actions of confident candidates methinks, just a stark realisation that the trough is gonna be pulled from under their trecherous snouts!!
Well done Barnsley, roll on May 1ST!!!
As a fellow Yorkshireman may I wish all the BNP Candidates all the best and may the good people of Barnsley know which side their bread is buttered.
Chuck out the liberal lefties and bring in the BNP!!
Took a trip into Barnsley for the first time in ages today. So many places were displaying the St George Cross flag and the Union Jack. The markets were awash with red, white and blue.
It was great to see the BNP stall on the high street. They seemed like a really nice bunch of blokes, happy to explain about the upcoming elections. Good luck to all the candidates.
Thanks We had a damp start but as soon as we setup our stall we had a rush on.
In the end we sold £59 vof’s and took £52.20 not bad for a few hours work every week we get more and more people coming up to us agreeing about what we stand for.
If we can win in Barnsley we can win anywhere.
We have had it all since we started selling vof’s in the town centre, two of us in the back of a police car checking our details, our stall smashed by the left wing scum, but we are here to stay.
Im an ex Coal Miner and Barnsley was built on Coal, but all the councilors think its a dirty word these days.
Come the 1st May we could make them pay for all the cr*p they have thrown at us .
People of Barnsley, You are now in the privelaged position of dealing a massive blow for the honest, betrayed indigenous people of this country! The corrupt garbage that calls itsself a British government are now being recognised for the traitors they surely are, and like the libs and cons, are running scared of the all seeing B.N.P!Please Barnsley, strike a telling blow for the future of your country, by showing a large dose of good old Yorkshire common sense, so that the rest of our downtrodden countrymen and women can take heart, and rally round the banner of true democracy.Someone has to take the lead, so why not Barnsley. Good luck to all the B.N.P.CANDIDATES. We really are on the march!!!
Good luck to Simon Goodricke in Hoyland. Kick out the mafia that are currently running.
Would be nice to see some BNP door-stepping in Hemingfield, I think they would be pleasantly surprised.
Everyone I speak to, the conversation turns to immigration.
Good luck BNP on May 1st
-
Noted, hemingfielder, thanks. - Ed
I agree with Baz, what childish behavior by the Labour Party Member. No wonder the Country is in such a state when it is run by muppets like this. Why try to evict them from the meetings? Because they can see the growing momentum and support for the BNP Party, he now wants to pick up his ball and go in. This is a democratic society and the BNP have every right to this.
Bring on May 01st. Good Luck BNP
